Visionary Position has landed!

I’ve finally got hold of the long-awaited debut album by Panic Room, “Visionary Position”. Because I’ve been away from home over Easter, the whole of teh internets (or at least the whole of the girlyprogosphere) has been going on about how wonderful it is. And all the time it had been sitting on my doormat when I couldn’t listen to it!

Full review when I’ve had the chance to give it a few listens.

    Quite fancied that myself, however the web-site is Flash-only so that one died a quick death :-(

    As you seem to have a fondness for female-fronted bands, have you checked out Paatos? Currently a flavour of the month in these parts :-)

    I really need to come up with a tactful way of telling them that having a Flash-only website is a really, really bad idea. For starters, sites that are just one big blob of Flash are invisible to search engines. Which is why, at one point, this blog came up higher in seaches for “The Reasoning” than the The Reasoning’s own web site.

    The Mermaid Kiss website is even worse. Attempting to access it at home doesn’t only crash the browser, it crashes Windows, and forces a reboot.

    I pre-ordered “Visionary Position” at work at lunchtime, where fortunately it wasn’t blocked by the firewall.

    BTW, I’ve actually met the guy that built all three sites. Apart from his Flash fetish, he seems a nice enough guy.

    Re: Paatos, I don’t have any of their albums, but I’ve seen them live as support for Porcupine Tree a couple of years ago. Don’t remember much about them, which suggests they weren’t particularly memorable.

    I’ll get Visionary Position when it eventually appears on Amazon or similar - shame, as the band no doubt get less dosh that way.

    Paatos is one of those bands that took a while to click with me. I was doing some catching up over Easter, played ‘Kallocain’ again and suddenly ‘got it’ - ordered the rest of the catalogue straight away and they turned up today :-)

    Hi Steve,

    Sorry you didn’t get on with our website - but just to let you know the album will be available from amazon and other retailers from 21st April. However, the special edition digipak version (with 20 page booklet) is only available from the website - but you can also get a copy by posting a cheque for £11.49 (inc. £1.50 p&p) made out to “Firefly Music Ltd” to;
    Firefly Music Ltd, 3 Talbot Street, Gowerton, Swansea, SA4 3DB - don’t forget to include your address so we know where to send the disc!

    Cheers

    Jon (Panic Room)

    PS. Sorry for the shameless self promotion!
